Resurfacing work on Greengales Lane

City of York Council is to resurface the carriageway on Greengales lane, Wheldrake during the week commencing 5th October 2015.

The works are programmed to take approximately 1 to 2 days to complete, working weekdays only between 8:00am and 17.00pm. The area affected is shown on the plan on the reverse of this letter.

In order to carry out these works safely, the use of a temporary road closure will be necessary whilst works are taking place.

If you require vehicular access to or from properties within the works, for yours and others safety, you must first inform the traffic management operatives on site and follow any instructions issued. Vehicular access will only be allowed if it is safe to do so. Access around the works will be via a diversion please observe signs for information.

Due to the nature of the works and the size and quantity of machinery required to carry out the works, it will not always be possible for residents to gain vehicular access to their properties or on-street parking during these times. In these circumstances residents should be prepared to use alternative parking.

Pedestrian access will be available at all times. Cyclists will have to dismount and use the adjacent verge areas when travelling through the affected area.

As with any construction work, there is likely to be a certain amount of disruption and inconvenience, but this will be kept to a minimum wherever possible.

However, motorists should expect some delays and plan their journey accordingly.

The Contractor appointed to do the work will be responsible for your safety and providing pedestrian access at all times.

I will be monitoring the works on site, but if you wish to discuss this work further please do not hesitate to contact me on York 553462.
