Coronavirus support

Elvington is a fantastic community and we know many people want to help others who might be self-isolating and in need of some support during the current coronavirus outbreak, and also where to find support if they need.  Below are details of support schemes from City of York Council, the Elvington community, and North Yorkshire CC.

It is critical that all residents follow the current advice from the government and Public Health England.

  • Anyone who lives with someone who has a cough or a temperature should stay at home for 14 days

  • If you have symptoms and live alone you must stay home for 7 days

  • Avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues

  • Only use the NHS when you really need to. If your symptoms are getting worse or stay for more than 7 days please use the NHS 111 online service . If you are unable to use the online service then call 111. Do not go to your GP, pharmacy or A&E.

City of York

City of York Council is collating details of volunteers across the city to mitigate the effects of social isolation and support our vulnerable residents. Anyone who is interested in volunteering throughout this period should email: volunteering@york.gov.uk or phone 01904 551550, and they will then send more details direct.

Elvington Village

For volunteering within Elvington Village the following people have agreed to maintain a list of those able to offer support.  If you are wanting to help then please get in touch with them.

If you would like support from someone in the village, or know someone who does, please contact one of the ladies above who will try to help.

North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Police have advised that there can be some possible risks to elderly or vulnerable people from self-organised community groups whose members are not DBS checked etc. Their advice is as follows:

"we consider the best way forward to speak with one voice and to sign post people to the following support and advice about keeping well and looking after your neighbours and communities:

https://healthwatchnorthyorkshire.co.uk/information/coronavirus/
