About Elvington

Our village

The village of Elvington lies to the south east of York on the west bank of the River Derwent.

Elvington is well known for its air museum which lies on what was originally the airfield of RAF Elvington. The Yorkshire Air Museum opened to the public on the airfield on 31st May 1986.

The village once played host to a popular air show, and a number of other events still take place both at the museum and on the airfield, including numerous driving and sports activities.

As well as a thriving residential community, the village has a number of businesses and industries, a medical practice, a primary school and a church.
